Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau scores top tourism award

ISU Tourism Award

The “Terredise” campaign conducted by the Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau (THCVB) captured the 2026 Indiana Tourism Award for Best Advocacy Initiative March 18. As noted in an Indianapolis awards ceremony, the Indiana Tourism Association award reflects a growing recognition of what many are beginning to discover—Terre Haute is more than expected – and that others want to experience all that Terredise has to offer.

As the THCVB explained online, Terredise is more than a campaign. It’s a collaborative effort between the THCVB, Terre Haute Mayor’s Office Mayor Brandon Sakbun and the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce to reshape perception, build pride, and position Vigo County for continued growth through its See You In Terre Haute brand and strategic plan.

Also representing #VigoCounty at the conference were partners from the Terre Haute Children’s Museum and the Terre Haute Convention Center, along with collaborators from across West Central Indiana—demonstrating the regional momentum behind this work as part of the West Central Indiana Partnership. The conference offered an opportunity for Terre Haute and Vigo County to learn more from industry experts and see what other DMOs are doing well, while connecting with individuals and organizations involved in tourism throughout the state including Governor Mike Braun, Only In Indiana, the Indiana Arts Commission, the Indiana Foodways Alliance, the Indiana State Festivals Association and Indy’s “Walk and Talk Guy” Sampson Levingston (an Indiana State University alum) Through2Eyes.

From nationally recognized assets like the Larry Bird Museum to world-class competition at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, Terre Haute continues to build a destination that delivers—on and off the field.

As HCVB posted online: “This recognition reinforces what we know: We’re not just telling a story—we’re building a destination.”
